Alex was assigned to write about America’s Heartland. The assignment got easier and actually became a lot of fun when his family decided to visit their cousins in Indiana and Minnesota for Thanksgiving. Their route also took them through Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Wow, there were so many interesting things to learn and see. In Indiana and Illinois they saw covered bridges, Abe Lincoln’s old homestead, and attended fall festivals.
Walking into Iowa was an experience they will never forget. The soybean and pig farms were great introductions to Midwest farming. How fun it was to meet their Minnesota cousins and shop in America’s largest mall. Perhaps best of all was to enjoy early winter activities in the northern woodlands of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Everywhere they went they found people proud of their state~ mostly because that is where their family and friends live.
